Defillama Extension

DefiLlama the website is the default free DeFi dashboard: TVL, yields, fees, volumes, stables, bridges across hundreds of chains. Researchers and dashboards scrape it constantly. The browser extension is a thinner side product with a different job. Install from the official Chrome Web Store listing tied to defillama.com. GitHub (DefiLlama/defillama-extension) calls it “godmode on Etherscan” plus URL suspicion warnings.

Explorer power tools are the main value. On Etherscan and similar explorers, the extension overlays Llama address tags: behavioral or entity labels across tens of millions of addresses so a random hex is less mysterious (CEX, protocol, bot-ish patterns, named entities where tagged). It also pushes Llama pricing into tokens that explorers leave blank or wrong, then recalculates displayed balances so portfolio math on the page is less garbage. That is research QoL for anyone who lives in explorers all day. It is not Nansen-depth paid labeling, and tags can be wrong or incomplete. Still better than staring at naked addresses.

Safety features are light compared to dedicated Web3 security extensions. Phishing link warning: the llama toolbar icon turns red on suspicious URLs and green on trusted ones. Unintrusive. Easy to miss if you never look at the icon. Twitter/X phishing detection paints likely scam reply tweets with a red background so “support” reply guys are harder to click blind. Official copy stresses privacy: no user tracking in the extension; explorer injection is the point. Permissions still look scary (read/change data on sites, browsing-history style access to read the current URL). DefiLlama explains those are required for injection and URL checks, and claims history is not harvested. Open source lets you unpack the CRX and verify.

What it is not: a wallet, a pre-sign transaction simulator, an approval revoker, token honeypot auditor like GoPlus Token Security, or OS malware protection. It will not pop a Pocket Universe-style “you are about to drain USDC” modal before MetaMask confirms. Pair it with Rabby / Pocket / Kerberus / Revoke if you want that stack. Also do not confuse the extension with the full DefiLlama site. Yields, protocol TVL charts, and API live on defillama.com; the extension does not turn every tab into that dashboard.

Free. No GPS token. No default DEX fee tax. Brand trust rides on DefiLlama’s open-data reputation. Smaller install base than mega security extensions. Fake “DefiLlama” add-ons are possible; use the official store ID / domain only.

Who it’s for: onchain researchers and power users who live on Etherscan and want tags, better prices, and a simple phishing indicator without paying for a security suite. Who should skip relying on it alone: people who need Confirm-time simulation and drainer blocking as the primary product.

- Broad site permissions look invasive even with a no-tracking claim

- Does nothing for mobile wallet signing or OS malware
